Pros of buying a 50W/12V MR16 Halogen Flood Light Bulb:

1. Brightness: Halogen bulbs are known for their high intensity and brightness, which can effectively illuminate large areas.

2. Energy Efficient: Compared to older incandescent bulbs, halogen bulbs are more energy-efficient, as they use less wattage for the same level of light output.

3. Long Lifespan: Halogen bulbs have a longer lifespan than incandescent bulbs, usually lasting for several thousand hours before needing replacement.

4. Instant Light: Halogen bulbs turn on instantly, without the need for a warm-up period.

Cons of buying a 50W/12V MR16 Halogen Flood Light Bulb:

1. Heat Production: Halogen bulbs produce a significant amount of heat, which can be a problem in enclosed fixtures or when used in close proximity to flammable materials.

2. Short Lifespan Compared to LED: Although halogen bulbs have a longer lifespan than incandescent bulbs, they still have a shorter lifespan compared to modern LED bulbs.

3. High Energy Costs: While halogen bulbs are more energy-efficient than incandescent bulbs, they still consume more energy than LED bulbs for the same level of light output, leading to higher energy costs over time.

4. Fragile: Halogen bulbs are more fragile than LED bulbs and can easily break if dropped or mishandled.

Conclusion: While halogen bulbs can be a good choice for those who need a bright, energy-efficient light source for a relatively short period of time, they have several drawbacks, including high heat production, short lifespan compared to LED bulbs, and high energy costs over time. Therefore, if you're looking for a long-term, energy-efficient, and low-maintenance lighting solution, LED bulbs may be a better choice. However, if you need a bright, instant-on light source for a specific application, a halogen bulb may still be a suitable option.

Details:

Only a couple have markings that say ge exn 51 12 volt most of them are unmarked. Lot of 42 exn/50w/12v MR16 flood light bulb 50w 12v untested from estate sale. I have no idea if they are unused new or partially used burnt out. The 13 on the right do not have a glass cover.

Take a chance on them if you like otherwise i'll be throwing out eventually. I don't have means to test these, they were in the plastic bubble bags shown from a bin an estate sale lot, other standard base light bulbs same all worked.
